Since we’ve been handling poetry in English, I’ve been trying tp appreciate it better, so I’ve started trying to write it. I’ven ever really done any before. I wrote this in History…
Josephine waits
Unresigned to the fates,
That await such a girl as she.
Wondering which gift it will be
When the man that she loves is home from the fight.
Will he win the honor or glory with all of his might?
She will simply… wait.
Second time this month she has bandaged his hands.
Josephine could care less of these far away lands,
Where he fights for his honor, his glory, his foolish pride;
Never knowing the pain of his suffering bride.
She would sell all of the trophies and all of the prizes
For just one more chance to gaze into his eyes.
Falling in love with a warrior’s skills
was the most difficult to swallow of all of the pills.
While the sounds of the battle rage in his ear
She knows that she can never keep him here.
She hates all of your medals. your honors, and your drums.
She despises the uniform she’s cleaned all those nights.
She will take all your weapons and throw them from such great heights.
When he walks in the door her anger runs out.
She is quiet as the dog runs up and the children shout.
She savors the moment, holding him tight.
For in the morning, once more the drums will sound,
and he will be off again, to stand his ground.
And Josephine waits…
Resigned to the fates.
(its supposed to be in four stanzas, but WP sucks for writing this stuff.)
