I’m not really sure what this blog is going to be about. My buddy Rob has his own and it looks like fun. I suppose I should start with an introduction, generally a good place to start.
My name’s Ross, I’m a twenty year old Cadet at the Virginia Military Insititute. Currently I’m a thirdclassmen, which is equivalent to a sophmore. I’m majoring in History, and contracted to commission in the Army when I graduate. I hail from Mayville, Michigan : “The Land that Time Ignored” as my Dad says. I’m the middle child, with some middle child attention getting tendencies. My Dad runs a camp for folks with developmental disabilities, called The Fowler Center. its an amazing place, that does some wonderful things. I treasure it and the people who attend and the staff. There is a special place in my heart for it, and the work we do there.
As far as Hobbies and interest I reenact the American Civil War, and dabble in some martial arts. I also enjoy video games and just sitting around and watching movies with my buddies, or going out and meeting different people. I’m a very relationship person. I really like getting to know people well. I would say I dont really know a lot of people. I’m no social butterfly, but I do enjoy getting to know the people I do know.
Politically I’m rather indifferent towards the main political parties. I’m intersted in it, but often I just can’t find the time or energy to care. Sometimes caring is too frustrating. Socially I’m a conservative. I’m relativel neutral on a lot of issues, becuase, frankly, I believe there is a middle ground. I am against abortion is the only thing I can come up with were I’m really against something. I’m no activists though. I believe in the tenets of basic protestantism. I don’t talk about a lot of smaller details. I have a strong faith, but I do have a lot of vices. I tend to keep my mouth shut just to avoid being a hypocrite.
So I think thats a good base line to work from. I think this blog is just gonna be a simple place for me to store some random thoughts, anecdotes, rants and things that generaly amuse me, maybe some creative writing too. I’m hoping to really relieve some stress, and find an outlet that I really think I need.
